Zoning enforcement actions detailed; several addresses referred to court or prosecutor

The township’s zoning officer reported enforcement activity and upcoming meetings during the Sept. 22 session.

Zoning staff said the office issued one new certificate since the last meeting for a 240-square-foot shed. The zoning commission’s next meeting was set for Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.; staff said topics will be published on social media and the township zoning web page. The board of zoning appeals meeting scheduled for the prior Thursday was canceled because of the zoning officer’s illness and will be rescheduled in October.

Enforcement steps in multiple locations were described: letters will be sent to residents of Lehigh Estates concerning mobile homes that are unoccupied and in need of repair. Property at 2787 Bell Road went to summary judgment on Sept. 12; staff said they were awaiting the court’s outcome. An affidavit for 2601 Bell Road to remove an unclaimed vehicle has been completed and staff said they are waiting on the property owner’s decision about timing for towing.

Property at 2258 Chapel has been referred to the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office to start court and fine procedures; zoning staff said they were given permission to work directly with Assistant Prosecutor Steven Wagner on the matter rather than routing through other county contacts.

During public comment, resident Mike Jones praised zoning staff and trustees for professional handling of a recent matter and asked about ongoing meetings; trustees and staff said they would provide updates when the prosecutor’s office returns feedback and when staff Tom and Dale were available to report further.
