Council approves city committee to plan Layton activities for U.S. semiquincentennial

The resolution recognizes the federal U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and the state-level America250 Utah commission. City staff said forming an advisory committee will allow Layton to apply for state partnership and grant support, use state logos where authorized, and coordinate local events to commemorate the 250th anniversary.
Committee membership and duties The staff presentation listed charter members including Mayor Joy Petro, staff members and community volunteers; the committee will advise the council and staff on programming, public education and partnership opportunities. Staff recommended that the council approve the committee and submit an application to America250 Utah.
Council action A council member moved and seconded adoption; the council voted aye and adopted the resolution.
