Crow Wing County board approves land-use map change for Dagenbrook Township parcel

The Crow Wing County Board voted Sept. 9 to approve a land-use map amendment for parcel 57050519 in Section 5 of Dagenbrook Township, changing its designation from agricultural/forestry to Rural Residential 10 for approximately 42 acres.

County land services staff presented the request and said the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment held a public hearing on Aug. 21 and “made a unanimous recommendation to the board to approve the land use map amendment for parcel 57050519 from agricultural forestry to rural residential 10,” according to Chris Pence, who presented the item. Staff told the board it concurs with the commission’s recommendation and noted a finding of fact is included in the packet.

Board members asked whether the township board had weighed in; Pence said the county had not received comment from Dagenbrook Township. Pence also reported that the trust with an interest in the land indicated it was “okay” with the change.

A board member moved to approve the amendment as recommended by the Planning Commission (Rural Residential 10) and the motion passed on voice vote. The packet identifies the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment finding of fact on pages 53–54.

The change reduces the minimum lot size applied to the parcel compared with its agricultural/forestry designation; the county packet and planning commission report were cited as the basis for the recommendation. No formal conditions or development approvals were recorded at the meeting beyond the map amendment.

The board did not record a roll-call vote in the minutes excerpt provided; the chair announced the motion passed after members responded “aye.”
