Board recognizes state-champion NCHS girls track team and FFA livestock judging team’s international competition

The Natrona County School District #1 Board of Trustees opened the meeting with recognitions for student accomplishments at Natrona County High School.

Principal Wilson introduced the 2025 girls outdoor state track championship team. Coach Sondag thanked the board for the recognition and highlighted the team’s regional win and state meet performances; she credited relay coach Clear for leading two first-place relay finishes and two second-place finishes. Players identified themselves and listed their events at the state meet, including high jump, long jump, triple jump, sprints, throws, pole vault and relay events.

The board also recognized the Casper FFA livestock evaluation team. FFA adviser Timmy Reynolds (presented as the ag teacher and FFA adviser) described the team’s national placement—fourth in the Livestock Evaluation Contest at the National FFA Convention—and said that finish earned an invitation to judge livestock in Scotland and Ireland. The team judged at the Royal Highland Show in Scotland and placed as the highest-scoring team at the Charleville Livestock Show in Ireland. Team members Emmy Hornicker, Maddie Dickinson and Carter Cox and coach Heath Hornicker represented the group at the meeting; one member, Garrett Birkett, was absent because he was in school in Kansas.

Board members and trustees congratulated the students and coaches and said they appreciated hearing student introductions and details about the competitions. The recognitions were presented at the start of the meeting and were described by trustees as a highlight of the evening.

No board action or funding decision was associated with the recognitions; they were ceremonial acknowledgements of student achievement.
