State Board of Canvassers approves Dell Pro Max Slim XE additions to Dominion voting setup

The Michigan State Board of Canvassers on Sept. 19 unanimously approved three de minimis modifications to Dominion voting-system configurations to add the Dell Pro Max Slim XE computer in different server and workstation roles.

Shabran Casey, a Bureau of Elections presenter, told the board the three additions are replacement computers for commercial off‑the‑shelf hardware that is no longer available for purchase. "All 3 are essentially, different computers that are just needing to be replaced because the current commercial off the shelf product is no longer available for purchase," Casey said. He added the machines are part of the county Election Management System (EMS) that serves as the hub for local vote processing.

Casey said the changes were submitted and tested as de minimis modifications and do not affect vote counting. "It is, it is a de minimis change," he said, adding the updates went through testing at an accredited voting system test laboratory and were certified as de minimis because they do not change how results are produced.

Board members moved and seconded three separate motions to approve: (1) the Dell Pro Max Slim XE as an EMS or adjudication client configuration, (2) the Dell Pro Max Slim XE as an EMS Express Server configuration, and (3) the Dell Pro Max Slim XE as an ImageCAST central parent / ICC workstation configuration. Each motion was moved, seconded and approved with aye votes.

The board record shows staff characterized these as equipment‑level replacements rather than changes to vote counting logic; Casey said the first of the three may also be used by local jurisdictions for adjudication workflows used by some large jurisdictions. The transcript records no objections or conditions attached to the approvals.

The board moved on to other agenda items after the votes.
