The Woodland Hills School District board approved two formal items during the Sept. 10 agenda-setting meeting and reviewed several additional contracts and personnel matters for future action.
Contract for interpreter services: The board approved a contract with the Center for Hearing and Deaf Services to provide interpreting services for a student for whom the Allegheny Intermediate Unit could not supply interpreters. The motion passed by a recorded vote of 9–0. The board record shows a motion and second; individual member votes were recorded numerically but not read aloud by name.
Personnel appointment: The board voted to hire Mason McGarp as head of technology service technician at the high school with a salary of $50,000, effective Sept. 18, 2025. The motion passed 9–0 after a motion and second.
Other contracts presented: District staff also presented and discussed additional provider agreements for future board consideration, including a contract with Meadows Psychiatric Center for higher-level student mental-health supports, a social work affiliation agreement, a TCV/Devereux contract, and an education master services agreement with Emeritus Healthcare staffing. Staff discussed that the Meadows contract includes a locked-in $100 rate for three years. Those items were presented for board members’ questions and scheduled for formal approval at upcoming meetings.
Information items: The board heard a request to engage a broker to post for sale a block of 4,096 IP addresses owned by the district; staff said market value could range from about $30–$50 per address, with a potential gross sale amount of roughly $80,000–$140,000, and noted an ongoing annual maintenance cost of about $1,200. The board also discussed a revenue/credit question related to a prior security services contract amendment and asked staff to produce the contract addendum showing when an added position was created and any related credits.
