The proclamation highlighted the local and national hazards posed by lithium-ion batteries in household devices and urged residents to "buy only listed products, charge batteries safely and recycle them responsibly." The council cited National Fire Protection Association data about increased battery-related fires and used the 2025 Fire Prevention Week theme "Charge into Fire Safety" to underscore prevention and education efforts.
Council members and department representatives attended a brief pinning ceremony and took commemorative photos following the swearing-in.
