Resident urges council to prioritize health and human services funding, cites building pests and infrastructure problems

The commenter said ongoing construction and a planned renovation of a county facility would not resolve “structural problems in the whole building,” and listed pest problems including “bed bugs, cockroaches, mice, rats,” as well as unresolved electrical and plumbing issues. “Renovation itself cannot get rid of them,” the speaker said.
The resident asked council to consider those conditions during upcoming budget hearings and to allocate funds toward health and human services programs rather than “brown stadiums or county jail,” which the speaker said many county residents cannot utilize or enjoy. The comment concluded with thanks to the council.
The county clerk closed the public comment portion and the meeting proceeded to the scheduled presentation by the Centers for Families and Children.
