Holmes County hears updates on Hurricane reimbursements; approves small budget item for task-force charges

Staff described a recurring administrative charge for an ongoing task force related to Hurricane Elaine/Sally work: “It's $15.50 a month for 3 months,” and the board calculated that amount as $46.50 in total, which staff asked be added to next year’s budget and financed from contingency if needed. Board members discussed timing for expected state payments and the fact that some management or administrative line items have already been used; staff said additional invoices for work completed on Hurricane Sally remain outstanding and will continue to be submitted for payment.
The board approved adjustments described in the meeting to cover the expected, small non-reimbursable admin charge and directed staff to ensure the item is included in next year’s budget under contingencies. Staff also noted separate pending state processes for larger reimbursement pools and said some project management funds have already been allocated against those projects.
No formal federal or state award numbers (beyond internal references) were read into the record at the hearing, and the board did not adopt any new contracts during this discussion. Staff said they will continue to submit invoices as work is completed and to track reimbursable vs. non-reimbursable costs for county accounting.
