The North Pocono School Board recognized three student representatives for 2025-26 and heard an athletics update that highlighted early-season successes and a new strategic athletics framework.
The board introduced student representatives Trey Cephus, Gabe DeCipio and William Barker. Trey, a senior enrolled in the culinary arts program at the Career Technology Center, said he was "grateful for the work" of staff and family. Gabe, ranked third in his class, outlined academic and extracurricular achievements; William, ranked second, listed multiple academic honors and extracurricular leadership roles. The board then heard student reports covering club signups, senior class activities and upcoming homecoming events.
Athletic director Nick Swaha reported on fall sports, saying football began the season 3-0 and that both Trojan soccer teams had strong starts (records cited at roughly 5-1 and 6-1). He said girls tennis was 6-2 with several decisive match results and girls volleyball was early in its schedule at about 2-2. Swaha noted cross-country and golf qualifiers preparing for district competition and highlighted robust overall participation at the district compared with nearby schools that have cut sub-varsity teams. "As we approach right around the halfway point ... we've seen a lot of individual and team accomplishments to be applauded," Swaha said. He also said he has developed a framework of a strategic athletic plan to guide the program.
The board approved, as part of the personnel and student placements motions, an athletic intern placement: Isabella Suma from Marywood University to work with Swaha for 250 hours.
