Evansville board approves METS surplus and potential auction of old buses and equipment

METS staff said the 10 toolboxes removed from service are 16 years old and that purchasing staff had discussed offering them first to METS mechanics for a nominal fee; if not claimed they would be disposed of. Staff said similar retired transit vehicles are typically sold at Wolf's Auto Auction; the transcript provided no definitive resale price or expected net proceeds.
The motion to surplus and auction the listed units was moved, seconded and approved. No purchaser was named, and the timing and method (city auction vendor vs. private sale) beyond the general reference to Wolf's Auto Auction were not finalized at the meeting.
