The Evansville Board of Public Works on Sept. 4 authorized Evansville Metropolitan Transit System (METS) to solicit quotes and finalize specifications for the 2026 passenger sampling required by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the National Transit Database (NTD).
METS representative Mister Sevekin told the board the passenger sampling is required every three years and must begin Jan. 1, 2026. He asked the board’s permission to issue the bid specifications now so a contract is in place before the sampling window opens, noting that the purchase order would not be issued until 2026.
A motion to authorize distributing the specifications was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote. The transcript does not name the motion maker or seconder. No contract award, estimated cost, or vendor was discussed at the meeting.
METS will need to complete the sampling during the NTD reporting period and submit results per FTA/NTD guidance; the board granted only authorization to solicit quotes and finalize specifications at this meeting.
