County votes to consolidate Truckee library bond with Nov. 4 statewide special election

The Nevada County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 9 approved a resolution to consolidate a Truckee Library Joint Powers Authority bond measure with the statewide special election scheduled for Nov. 4, 2025.
Corey O'Hare, acting County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, told the board consolidating the measures is routine and can reduce costs for the local jurisdiction. He said all conditions for consolidation had been met, including the 88-day notice requirement tied to the statewide special election.
O'Hare and Deputy County Counsel Doug Johnson outlined vote center locations and hours. Notable changes include moving one Truckee vote center from Truckee Town Hall to the Truckee Tahoe Airport and a change at the Gold Miners Inn vote center: that site will be open for two days instead of the usual four because of prior facility bookings. Tolling and vote-center minimums required by recent state election rules were noted; the elections office says it will meet or exceed statutory minimums and will post locations and hours on the county elections website and in voter guides.
Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt the consolidation resolution. Board members asked about cost allocation; O'Hare said consolidating will make the JPA election more affordable and the county will charge the district under an existing county fee resolution. The board and elections staff said communications to voters will include the consolidated schedule and locations.
