Parks board awards Swonder Ice Arena concession to Legacy Hospitality; contract to return for approval

The Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners voted Sept. 3 to award the concession at Swonder Ice Arena to Legacy Hospitality and Entertainment Group and said the written agreement will be brought back for formal execution at a subsequent meeting.

Danielle, executive director of the parks department, told the board the proposal from Legacy Hospitality was the only submission and that staff had reviewed it. “We are asking your permission today. The agreement is not ready for this agenda item, but we are ready to award,” Danielle said. She confirmed staff will return with the full contract for the board’s approval at the next meeting.

Board members moved and seconded the award; the board approved the action by voice vote. The award grants Legacy Hospitality the right to operate concessions at Swonder Ice Arena subject to final contract terms and to the Parks Department’s later execution of the agreement.

The board did not vote on or approve contract language at the Sept. 3 meeting and directed staff to present the agreement for formal execution at a later date. No financial terms, contract length, or exclusivity provisions were presented on the record; Danielle said the written agreement was not ready for the agenda and would be presented later.

The board took the vote during the meeting’s consent/new-business segment; the action was recorded as an award (pending final contract) and carried by voice vote.
