Superintendent announces new professional learning communities; one to focus on AI in education

He said one PLC will focus on the "effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence in education," examining classroom applications, ethics, equity, student data privacy and AI literacy for students. "For the AI PLC in education, we're going to be focused on exploring AI from multiple lenses, looking at classroom applications, professional tools, and system-level opportunities," he said.
The second PLC, Dr. Miller said, will use TeachFX (an instructional-feedback tool) to help teachers refine questioning and discourse strategies. "This will provide emphasis on professional feedback. Educators can use this tool to leverage data and feedback from TeachFX in order to better their instructional practices," he said.
Dr. Miller framed the PLCs as part of the district's strategy to foster ongoing, collaborative professional growth: "By dedicating time each month for these PLCs, South Fayette is continuing to build a culture of continuous learning among educators, positioning our district at the forefront of both instructional excellence and thoughtful integration of any new technologies." He said the district held its first PLC on the preceding Monday and plans monthly sessions throughout the school year.
