District outlines annual contractor agreements, winter-sports equipment bids and two classroom-supply donations

The Boyertown Area School District presented two routine annual agreements, a winter-sports equipment bid list and two community donations at its Sept. 9 committee meeting.

Mrs. Bartman, director of special education, said the first agreement is an independent-contractor arrangement for a speech-language pathologist who works roughly 2.5 days per week at $72 per hour; she said the rate is unchanged from the prior year and that pay begins when the contractor is working with students in the building (not travel time). The second is a statement of work with TransPerfect for translation and interpretation services; Bartman said that contract carries a 7% increase from the previous year.

Athletic and bid items

Mr. Palladino, the district athletic contact, presented the winter-sports repetitive equipment list — routine, recurring purchases (not uniforms) such as basketballs and wrestling-mat cleaning supplies. Palladino described the list as the usual annual orders, broken down by building, sport and vendor.

Donations

The board acknowledged two donations of classroom and school supplies collected for kindergarten through fifth grade. Mrs. Bartman said the donors are St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Village Green Homeowners Association; the total value is not yet known and will be estimated once the collection ends. She said the district filed the donations in accordance with policy and will report the estimated value later.

What was requested and next steps

Board members asked clarifying questions about the contractor's start-time and mileage; Bartman said the contractor rate applies while the contractor is working with students in district buildings and that mileage is not part of the hourly rate. No formal votes on these agenda items were recorded during the committee session; they were presented for the board's consideration.
