The warden reported repair estimates of $2,287 for one unit and $1,461 for the other. The jail said the funds are not currently in the county’s budget and that the board’s recommendation will ask Commissioners to authorize spending.
Board members discussed urgency and budget timing. One inspector said the medium-security block’s heat is turned off for now and expressed concern that delay could cause problems when weather cools. The jail’s representative said the facility has available funds in its jail budget but the county-level budget might not have the money, so the recommendation to commissioners was necessary.
A motion to recommend the commissioners approve the repairs passed by voice vote. A board member moved the recommendation; another board member seconded. The chair called for ayes; no opposed votes were recorded and the motion carried.
