The Tri‑Creek superintendent told the board that reconfiguring the afternoon parent pickup line and the bus lot and slightly extending the intermediate/middle‑school day reduced dismissal congestion and cut the time needed to clear buses substantially.
"We flip flopped the parent pickup line and the bus to opposite locations... the majority of the fleet goes and then there are 2, maybe sometimes 3 buses that will then go 3 minutes later," the superintendent said, reporting that the bulk of buses now depart in a first wave and remaining buses depart in a second wave within three minutes. The superintendent said that within a roughly 12‑minute span most students were boarded and out of the lot.
Board members and parents reported quicker trips home and fewer students waiting in the cafeteria or gym after dismissal. The superintendent said the change allowed supervision resources to focus on instruction rather than babysitting and that the district will continue to monitor the configuration.
The board praised staff and volunteers for implementing the change and said it has had an immediate positive effect; no formal policy changes or additional expenditures were reported.
