Committee recommends vacating unused utility easements at Ward Plaza redevelopment site

The Planning and Economic Development Committee voted to forward an ordinance (O-2025-30) to vacate existing utility easements on properties owned by Winchester Acquisition Partners LLC at 330 Hope Drive and 2252 Valley Avenue (Ward Plaza) in advance of redevelopment work.
Staff said the request is procedural: the developer has identified utilities that will not be used in the new project and asked the city to vacate the corresponding easements. Planning and public-works staff told the committee they support the request because the developer will dedicate replacement easements for the utilities that will remain part of the redevelopment.
A committee member moved to forward the ordinance with a recommendation for approval and the motion carried; staff will include necessary documentation with the council packet.
