Council approves driveway-width deviation for 671 E. Clovergate Lane

Grantsville City Council approved a deviation to combine a homeowner’s secondary driveway with their main driveway at 671 East Clovergate Lane, council members said Sept. 17.

Shelby, a staff presenter, told the council the applicant, identified as Kayla, asked to amend a previously approved secondary access permit to combine the two accesses into a single wider driveway. That change did not meet the standard code requirement for driveway access in an R-1-21 zone, so council approval of Resolution 2025-72 was required.

Council members asked whether the wider driveway would create drainage problems or reduce on-street parking. Staff and council members said the slope from the street to the sidewalk made backflow unlikely and that a large private driveway could remove some on-street parking by allowing vehicles to park on private property instead.

A council member moved to approve Resolution 2025-72 to allow the deviation; another member seconded the motion. After hearing no further discussion, the mayor called the vote and the motion carried.
