Parks staff to present amendment to Wagner'Mayhew conservation easement to allow drainage right-of-way

Parks staff told the Board that the City of Brighton and county staff negotiated an amendment to the 2023 Wagner'Mayhew conservation easement to accommodate a drainage right-of-way for a channel along Sable Boulevard near 140th Avenue. Staff said the City of Brighton has agreed to repay grant funds (including a GOCO grant) and the county's open-space funding that supported the original conservation easement.
Byron (Parks staff) introduced the item and said county staff had worked with city staff and internal grant administrators to document the repayment and changes. Cindy Stringham and Ali Cooper (agriculture and natural resources specialist) were present as the county's Parks team handling the conservation and agricultural aspects. Staff told commissioners the signed agreement from Brighton was in hand and that the item would be placed on the consent calendar at the board's next meeting.
No substantive policy change to the county's conservation or open-space program was proposed; the amendment was characterized as a narrowly tailored change to permit a drainage right-of-way while preserving the property's overall conservation status. Commissioners asked no substantive questions and staff said formal consent-calendar approval was coming next week.
