Winnebago County approves new courthouse annex boiler; discusses generator upgrade and approves several permits and claims

Winnebago County supervisors voted to replace the aging boiler in the courthouse annex and approved a set of routine permits and payments during their meeting.

The board approved moving forward with a new boiler for the courthouse annex after staff presented quotes and lifecycle concerns for the existing unit. Kevin, a county staff member, told supervisors the current boiler is near the end of its service life and warned that replacement parts can take weeks to arrive. “I think we should strongly consider just replacing it and being done with it rather than take the chance of, you know, in the middle of winter, I just I come in 1 morning and it's 60 degrees in here,” Kevin said.
