Board elects Cherry chair and Nisbett vice chair; schedules annual update to City Commission

The Sarasota Board of Adjustment elected Mister Cherry as chair and Miss Nisbett as vice chair during its September 2025 meeting. The board recorded affirmative voice votes for both positions.
City staff told the board that the City Commission requested an annual update from every advisory board and assigned dates alphabetically; the Board of Adjustment’s presentation is scheduled for Oct. 6, 2025. Staff said the presentation is typically brief and centered on the board’s activities over the past year (meeting counts, variances heard, attendance and any notable items), and that staff has prepared backup materials and would meet with whoever the board selects to present.
Board members discussed whether to elect a chair and vice chair to run together; both elected members accepted their nominations. The board chair and secretary will coordinate the content of the Oct. 6 presentation with staff in the coming weeks.
The board closed the meeting and adjourned after routine administrative items.
