Commission issues Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to AdventHealth for interfacility ambulance transports

The Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to issue a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN) to AdventHealth (Hillsborough region) authorizing Class 3 advanced life-support interfacility transports in the county.
Public Safety Director Jason Fair told commissioners the department completed a review of AdventHealth's application packet and found the hospital system met operational, financial and regulatory requirements under Florida statute Chapter 401 and Florida Administrative Code (64J) and Charlotte County code. The item proceeded to a public hearing; no members of the public spoke for or against the application.
The board approved the COPCN after staff confirmed required documentation and compliance verification had been provided. The certificate allows AdventHealth to provide interfacility patient transport consistent with state and county rules.
