Grayson County approves renewed inmate-housing agreement with Fannin County as daily rate rises to $97

Grayson County Commissioners on Sept. 23 approved a renewal of the interlocal agreement with Fannin County to house Grayson inmates, increasing the daily rate from $87 to $97.
The county staff member who presented the contract told the court the only substantive change in the renewal was the per-diem rate. The presenter said most of the inmates covered under the agreement are "paper-ready" — inmates already processed and ready for transfer to another jurisdiction.
Commissioner Wright moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Hartenberg seconded. The motion carried with the court voting in favor.
County staff said there is "very good communication" between Grayson County, Fannin County and the receiving facility on classification and which inmates can be accepted. No dollar total for the contract term was provided during the presentation.
The approval directs county staff to finalize the renewed interlocal agreement under the revised daily rate. The judge and clerk will record the action in the court minutes.
