Lafayette City approves claims and accepts state housing grant for 28 units

LAFAYETTE CITY — Lafayette City board members on a brief meeting approved claims presented by the city controller, accepted a state housing contract administered through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and approved the meeting minutes.
The board approved claims after Jeremy Deal, city controller, told the body, “Controller's office has reviewed claims totaling $5,476,007.16 dollars and 13¢. I request the board's approval.” The council voted by voice to approve the claims.
During new business, a presenter representing the Police Department reported the city received a state contract from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. “We got our state contract from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. This is the same grant that we get every year,” the presenter said, adding that this year the grant term was adjusted from 12 months to a 13-month period. The presenter gave the award amount as $319,272.98, said the grant covers 28 units and noted the city will provide a 25% match.
The board voted by voice to accept the state contract and to approve the minutes as communicated. All three actions were approved with voice votes and no recorded dissents during the meeting.
The meeting lasted only minutes and included routine administrative business: approval of minutes, acceptance of the housing grant, and approval of claims. The meeting adjourned with no further public comment or substantive debate recorded.
