Recorder’s office seeks to switch land-records software to Fidlar; commissioners express support

DuBois County’s recorder and staff briefed commissioners Sept. 15 on a plan to migrate the county’s land-records system from the current CSI/DocSpot platform to Fidlar (often stylized Fidlar). Presenters said Fidlar is used by many neighboring counties, offers expanded search and fraud-alert features (including phone-call alerts and Spanish-language notices), and can reduce costs for heavy users such as title companies.
Recorder staff said the county’s contract with CSI ends at the end of this calendar year; they proposed a soft launch to Fidlar on Dec. 1 with a Jan. 1 full transition. The presenters described training plans for internal staff and outreach to frequent external users, including title companies and law offices, and said Fidlar provides onboarding resources for those partners.
Commissioners asked for final contract edits and legal review; county counsel and recorder staff said legal comments have been exchanged and final agreement language will be supplied for the board’s review. Commissioners expressed no opposition to the switch subject to review of final contract language and the retention of current public-access and e-filing capabilities.
