City council approves Electric City Transit Agency safety plan update

Anderson City Council unanimously approved an annual update to the Electric City Transit Agency safety plan following a federal audit and as required by the Federal Transit Administration.
The City Council of the City of Anderson on Sept. 22 unanimously approved an annual update to the Electric City Transit Agency (ECTA) agency safety plan, Transportation Manager Keith Moody told the council.
Moody said the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) required transit agencies to adopt formal agency safety plans in 2020 and that the FTA now asks agencies to present annual updates to their governing bodies. The city recently completed a triannual federal audit; Moody said the agency safety plan had already been reviewed by federal auditors.
City staff noted ECTA operates six routes countywide connecting municipalities and providing links to a regional system in Pendleton. Officials said ridership is increasing and the agency is modernizing its fleet; new vehicles resembling trolleys are in production.
Councilmember Newton moved approval and members voted unanimously. Staff said the safety plan and packet materials were provided to council prior to the meeting; no substantive changes to service or funding were announced at the meeting.
