Tamarac staff previews changes to neighborhood parking ordinance ahead of second reading

City staff on Monday previewed edits to the city’s parking ordinance that will appear at second reading before the commission.
Miss Galloway (staff member) told the staff agenda review workshop that, following direction at first reading, staff added language allowing the City Commission, by majority vote, to add neighborhoods to or remove neighborhoods from the ordinance’s listed areas. Galloway said staff also added the neighborhoods that were requested at first reading (she said an additional five neighborhoods were added at that stage).
The second‑reading changes also introduce a temporary neighborhood parking decal program; Galloway said the city manager or the manager’s designee will set the fees for temporary decals and for any parking signs installed under the program. City Manager (name not specified) and other staff said they will provide the updated language to the public at the commission meeting so commissioners can see the exact changes.
No vote occurred at the staff workshop; the ordinance second reading is scheduled for the upcoming commission meeting.
