Flower Mound planning department wins Richard R. Lilly Planning Excellence Award for sixth consecutive year

Planning staff reported to the commission on Sept. 22 that the Flower Mound Planning Department has been named a recipient of the Richard R. Lilly Planning Excellence Award for the sixth consecutive year. Staff credited the recognition to department qualifications, continuing education and updates to ordinances and guiding documents.
Poornima (staff director) told commissioners the award also reflects training the commission receives, including programs sponsored by the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. The town will likely be recognized at the Texas State Conference next month in College Station and staff said they would provide further details and an email update prior to the next meeting.
The announcement was made during the staff report portion of the agenda and drew brief congratulations from the commission; no formal action was required.
