Jefferson County board re-elects Josh Cameron as chair; elects vice chair

Board member Strickland nominated Josh Cameron for chair, saying, "I'm gonna manage, Josh Cameron for chairman." With no other nominations, the board voted and the motion passed 5-2 to re-elect Cameron as chair. The board then opened nominations for vice chair; a nomination was made for Bill Gibbonson. The board proceeded to vote for the vice-chair position and the motion passed (vice chair elected; vote announced by the presiding officer).
The board followed the process it described at the start of the meeting: nominations did not require a second and the candidate receiving a majority would take the chair and continue to the vice-chair election. The elections occurred at the beginning of the public meeting during the agenda appointment section.
No formal policy changes or additional direction attached to the leadership votes were made at the time of the election.
