Mount Pleasant swears in two full‑time firefighters; new street maintenance specialist introduced

The Mount Pleasant City Commission held brief ceremonial items Sept. 22 to introduce new public‑safety and public‑works personnel.

Fire department swearing in Chief Doug Lobsinger introduced the department’s newest full‑time firefighters, Adam O’Farrell and Rachel Loughrey, and administered the oath of office. Lobsinger said O’Farrell previously served as a firefighter in Shepherd and as a paramedic/paramedic supervisor with Mobile Medical Response. Lobsinger introduced Loughrey as the department’s first full‑time female firefighter and noted she had prior experience with Surrey fire services and had just begun her 24‑hour shift cycle.

Both new firefighters offered brief remarks. Adam O’Farrell said, “I look forward to serving the population of Mount Pleasant.” Rachel Loughrey said she was “excited to serve this community.”

Street maintenance Director of Public Works Jason Moore introduced Tyler Tupper as a new street maintenance specialist who started Sept. 8; Moore said Tupper previously worked in pipeline and construction and served in the U.S. Army.

Why it matters: the introductions reinforce the city’s staffing in public safety and public works and mark the department milestone of adding a full‑time female firefighter to the roster.
