Commissioner Chase reported to the City Commission on Sept. 8 that the planning commission approved multiple development applications during its recent meeting.
Chase said the panel approved a "brothers" building on Northridge and also approved a special land use and a final area site plan for a commercial building that will house an indoor shooting range at Shippers in Northridge. Chase characterized these approvals as positive developments for the city.
Commissioners and the city manager also discussed the Visser project near the DeltaPlex and noted the traffic committee will meet to consider removing some no-parking signs on Hillside to ease neighborhood parking during events. The city manager said a traffic control order or related traffic committee action could follow within a week or two.
The commission heard that a business called the Pump House is preparing to open in Standale in the strip mall currently hosting the temporary library. City officials said the owner (Jamie) and family are working through zoning details and expect the location to be visible from the street; the business plans include year-round service and food items such as waffle cones and a topping bar.
No formal votes or appeals on the planning items were taken during the commission meeting; the planning commission decisions were reported as approved at the commission's meeting.
