Walker readies for Nov. 4 local election; 5,100 on permanent ballot list

City Clerk reported at the Sept. 8 meeting that Walker will hold a local election on Nov. 4, 2025, with Kent ISD and Granville School District items appearing on the ballot. Because the election is local, the clerk said early voting is not required under local rules.
The clerk said this will be the city’s first election using its new consolidated precinct. The clerk added that outreach materials were distributed — including updated ID cards — and that residents have generally responded positively.
The city’s permanent ballot list includes just over 5,100 names, the clerk said. Ballots for those on the permanent list are scheduled to go out the week of Sept. 25.
Commissioners praised the clerk’s outreach plan; the city manager and commissioners said they will increase social-media reminders as the election approaches. No additional policy changes to the election process were announced at the meeting.
