Commission approves $5.30 million in bills and adopts 2021 property maintenance code

The consent agenda item listing expenditures of $5,297,787.78 was presented and approved by voice vote. Commissioner Chase moved to approve the bills; Commissioner DeShane seconded. Mayor Carey called the vote and the motion carried with aye votes recorded from those present.
On the second reading the commission voted to amend chapter 18, article 2, division 2 of the City of Walker Code of Ordinances to adopt the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code. Commissioner Gilbert moved approval; Commissioner Babcock offered support. The commission voted by voice and the ordinance passed on the second reading.
Both items were presented during the regular commission meeting following the Committee of the Whole session. No public comment was taken on either item during the meeting. The record indicates the first reading of the property maintenance code had been approved previously; the commission completed the formal second-reading approval on Sept. 8.
The meeting adjourned after routine motions following the ordinance vote.
