County tables selection of Henry Community Health board trustee; board recommends two candidates

Henry County commissioners tabled a request from the Henry Community Health (hospital) board of trustees to appoint a replacement for trustee Sheldon Dines, who will resign effective Sept. 30.
The letter read at the meeting (the board's chairman) said Dines had served since January 1989 and was recently reappointed in 2025. The board cited Indiana Code 16-22-2-11 as the statute governing the board's submission of up to three candidates for the county commissioners' consideration and formally requested two candidates to fill the remainder of Dines' term.
The health board listed two candidates in order of preference: Erica Gilman of Newcastle, a certified financial planner with Edward Jones who serves on the Henry Community Health Foundation and Henry County Community Foundation; and John Madison, a longtime county resident and local attorney who serves on the foundation board and the Henry County Redevelopment Commission and recently completed 12 years on the Blue River Valley School Board.
A commissioner moved to table the item so the commissioners could meet with both candidates to discuss priorities and potential collaboration between the hospital board and county services; the motion to table carried by voice vote. One commissioner said they would meet with the candidates and could circulate a summary to streamline the process.
