Staff reports: Stip Road work to start, July stormwater expenditures reported and new technician hired

County staff provided brief staff reports at the Sept. 3 Monroe County Board of Commissioners meeting: they summarized July stormwater expenditures, gave a status update for the Stip Road project and introduced a new stormwater technician.
The stormwater expenditure report for July listed fleet maintenance charges of $9,352.86 and oil-and-gas expenses of $5,013.75, according to staff.
Staff also reported that the Moores Creek Road portion of a combined project is complete and that Stip Road work will begin next week; a kickoff meeting was scheduled for Friday and the contractor is set to start shortly. Staff said Lake Monroe water levels delayed earlier work this spring but that levels have since fallen and the contractor plans to complete Stip Road before the end of the year.
The board welcomed Ross Carlson, who started as a stormwater technician the prior week. Staff said Carlson brings experience in conservation and waterway work and is already participating in related meetings and conferences.
Ending: Commissioners heard the brief updates during staff reports and offered no objections. The board adjourned and noted its next meeting date as Oct. 1, 2025.
