County fleet and facilities staff reported on Aug. 28 that Monroe County received five bids for the roof replacement at the Monroe County Health Building, 119 W. Seventh St.
Richard Kreider, identified as building/fleet manager, said the county engaged STR Specialty Engineering Group to prepare bid documents and advertised the notice to bidders in August. He said eight contractors attended a pre-bid meeting and bidders were asked to submit a base bid plus two alternates. Bids were due the morning of Aug. 28; Mr. Kreider announced the five base bids to commissioners:
- Quality Roofing Surfaces Inc. (Indianapolis): $207,600 - Steve's Roofing and Sheet Metal (Bloomington): $131,300 - Danaco Roofing Services Inc. (Indianapolis): $198,800 - BNL Sheet Metal and Roofing (Bloomington): $214,000 - R Adams Roofing (Indianapolis): $352,224
Kreider said the base bid covers replacement of the upper, lower and loading-dock roofs; the alternates cover membrane thickness and replacement of sheet-metal panels and gutter liner. He told the board the legal department would open bid documents and staff expected to present a recommendation by the Sept. 11 meeting.
No contract award was made at the Aug. 28 meeting. Commissioners said they would review the bids and select the most responsive and responsible bidder following standard procurement review.
