Hamilton County RUD reports progress on billing, GIS, alarms and lift-station work; meeting with Indiana American Water scheduled

General Manager (name not specified) told the board she has been training on the Trico billing system and will serve as the district’s first-line customer-service representative. “I’ve had a couple more days of training on the billing system with Trico. They’ve been helping out a whole lot. I’m learning the billing system because I’m your customer service rep. For if people do call about issues and things like that, I’m going to be the first person they talk to,” the General Manager said.
The district is working with Wessler Engineering to move its geographic information system (GIS) to a cloud environment so staff and partners can keep maps updated. Staff also reported that alarm systems at the district’s plants are now online and are generating calls; full remote monitoring capability will be available soon.
Construction and connection updates included McClure’s and the armory, which staff said are likely to come online in October or are ready to connect when scheduled. Engineer Marty Wessler of Wessler Engineering reported that contractor Reynolds continues punch-list work and is working on the Baker Ditch Culvert; Reynolds is expected to move to Lift Station 6 after right-of-entry agreements are obtained from BECCS and Reynolds Farm Equipment. Wessler also said Duke is scheduled to bring power to Lift Station 2 (Englewood) later this month.
The board said it has reached out to Indiana American Water to schedule a meeting after detecting inconsistencies related to delivery and the pressures that were promised in the contract; staff said they hope to get answers at that meeting. Board members discussed holding a ceremonial ribbon-cutting or “ceremonial flush,” suggesting a location near the lift station at 270 Sixth Street adjacent to the armory and water tower for photo opportunities.
No members of the public addressed the board during the public-comment period, which the board opened under Indiana Code 13-26-4-8 and then closed when no speakers appeared. The board set its next regular meeting for Oct. 13, 2025.
