The Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners on Thursday confirmed the evaluation committee’s rankings for consultant engineering services for the county airport and authorized staff to negotiate with the top-ranked firms and execute agreements, subject to county-attorney review.
County staff said three firms responded to the request for qualifications (RFQ 2025-11). The county seeks consultant engineering support for airport projects and wants multiple on-call firms so work can be split and deliverables completed without depending on a single firm. Staff recommended authorizing the county administrator or designated negotiator to complete negotiations and allow the chair to sign the resulting contract once reviewed by the county attorney.
Commissioner Sumner moved to confirm the evaluation results and authorize negotiations; Commissioner DeCarlo seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Staff said the arrangement will expand the county’s options for airport engineering work and for grant administration when FAA or state grant tasks require consultant support.
