Council approves MF Housing development agreement for 45-unit senior project on Cemetery Road

The Kiel City Council voted to approve plans and a development agreement for an MF Housing residential project on Cemetery Road.
Tom Clusters, representing MF Housing, told the council the 6.168-acre site had been rezoned R-3 and that the project will consist of 45 residential units. Clusters said the planning commission approved the plans the prior week and that the development agreement was circulated to council members that afternoon.
Alderman discussion noted the project’s similarity to another MF Housing development in Sister Bay (45 units), the use of similar building materials and style, and questions about assessment and tax valuation. During debate council members emphasized the project’s role in adding housing options for older residents and freeing up single-family homes for other households. The council’s motion to approve the certified survey map, plans and development agreement carried on a roll call recorded as 6-0.
The council asked staff to complete administrative steps necessary for recordation of the certified survey map and for coordination with utilities and building inspection prior to construction.
