TIPP CITY, Ohio — During public comment at the Sept. 15 council meeting, a man identifying himself as Steven Gerard Sedlowski urged Tipp City to consider adopting "preborn personhood" language and said he has been circulating advisory petitions in support of that goal.
Sedlowski said he had collected more than 270 signatures across Ohio and described an effort to place personhood-language on local charters. "I hope by now that you've read the personhood resolution and you're pondering the possibility of putting it on your agenda and passing by Christmas," he said. He also encouraged council members and citizens to participate in petition drives and said an advisory petition educates voters even though "your city attorney will tell you it carries no legal weight."
Council did not respond with action; the remarks were part of the meeting's public-comment period. No petition was submitted to the council during the meeting on Sept. 15.
