Morton Grove board approves appointments, contracts and warrant payments in unanimous votes

Appointment to police pension board Trustees voted 5–0 to appoint Stefan Johnson to fill a vacancy on the Morton Grove Police Pension Board. The motion to appoint Johnson was moved by Trustee Travis and seconded by Trustee Mink. Johnson, who previously served 28 years with the Glenview Police Department and retired as deputy chief, was described in the meeting as currently working in human resources, security and training at APT Electronics.
Outdoor warning system (Resolution No. 25-67) The board reconsidered and then approved an amended resolution authorizing a purchase agreement with Federal Signal Corporation for an outdoor warning siren system. The village administrator said the original agreement language named a different vendor (BANF Communications Inc.) and staff requested the amendment to reflect Federal Signal Corporation under the same terms and costs previously approved. The board’s vote to reconsider passed 5–0; the subsequent approval of the amended resolution also passed 5–0. The village administrator said the project will use a $10,000 grant to support installation in Herrick Park.
Website redesign and hosting (Resolution No. 25-71) Trustees approved a contract with Clarity Partners for website design and hosting. The meeting packet describes a redesign intended to improve visual design and regulatory compliance; the initial implementation cost listed in the packet was $34,370 and the annual hosting fee $590. The motion carried 5–0.
Utility improvements for Dempster Street redevelopment (Resolution No. 25-72) The board awarded a public-works contract to DC Contractors Inc. for sewer and water utility work related to redevelopment at 6210 Dempster Street. Staff said the low bid was documented in the solicitation and asked the board to approve an amended resolution to correct a typographical error in the published resolution. During discussion staff referred to the vendor quote included in the packet as the authoritative figure; the board approved the amended resolution 5–0.
Warrants Trustees accepted warrants as presented with a total of $767,447.57 by a 5–0 vote.
What the votes mean None of the approved measures required additional public hearings during the Sept. 9 meeting. Several items (the siren purchase and the utility contract) follow previously authorized steps in procurement and project implementation; the website contract is a standard services procurement. The board recorded each approval as unanimous (5–0).
