Galt Council approves 60-day pause on enforcement of RV/boat-parking code, asks staff to study exemptions for small utility trailers

GALT, Calif. — The Galt City Council voted 3-2 on Sept. 16 to temporarily suspend enforcement of the city's ordinance on parking and storage of recreational vehicles, boats and trailers and to direct staff to return with recommendations for narrowly tailored code changes.

The council's action — a 60-day pause in enforcement of Galt Municipal Code Section 8.20.110(k) — applies citywide and instructs staff to notify residents who already have open violation notices. Councilmembers also directed staff to present options to the Quality of Life ad hoc committee exploring whether small utility trailers could be treated differently under the code.

Why it matters: RVs, boats and oversized trailers on residential lots have been a frequent source of complaints in Galt.
