Galt City Council overturns Planning Commission, approves Lennar esigns for Summerfield at Twin Cities

The Galt City Council voted 4-1 on Sept. 16 to sustain an appeal filed by Lennar Homes and approve the design review for the Summerfield at Twin Cities residential subdivision, reversing a prior denial by the Planning Commission.

The vote followed several hours of testimony from Lennar representatives, architects and dozens of residents and neighbors, and came after the developer agreed to a list of exterior revisions presented to the council that staff and Lennar said had been prepared since the Planning Commission hearing. The council recorded its decision under its design-review authority and the procedural appeal framework cited in the agenda materials.

Why it matters: the Summersfield project is a 58-acre, 204-lot gated subdivision planned for land annexed into the city. Approval clears a major procedural hurdle to construction and establishes the architectural baseline the developer must meet as it proceeds toward building permits.
