Dover Board approves personnel, calendar and facilities items; discusses transportation, mentoring, grants and extracurricular concerns

The Dover Public School District Board of Education on Sept. 16 approved multiple consent and action items and discussed several substantive operational issues, including a transportation route pilot intended to reduce costs, a newly described mentoring program at Dover Middle School, state-funded facility grants and concerns about support for the high school dance program.

Board members voted to approve the minutes from the Aug. 12 meeting and to adopt grouped administrative, personnel, curriculum and finance/facilities agenda items presented by district staff. The approvals included revisions to the 2025–26 district calendar, personnel recommendations and multiple facilities contracts and reimbursements tied to state ROD grant applications.

The board’s business administrator said the district is transitioning one transportation route to an outside provider as a pilot and expects the change to save “up to $40,000 annually.” The district will monitor the pilot and, if successful, move additional routes gradually.

On student supports, the board approved a package of personnel and curriculum items that included a description of a mentoring program at Dover Middle School (DMS).
