Board confirms appointment, adopts agenda and sets Feb. 3, 2026 special election for treasurer vacancy

Special election for treasurer
In closed session the board considered personnel matters involving the treasurer's office. After returning to open session the board instructed county staff and the county attorney to file the necessary pleadings and documents to initiate a special election for the office of treasurer on Feb. 3, 2026. The board noted the special election is to fill a vacancy that will occur upon the treasurer’s resignation effective Oct. 5, 2025. The motion to set the special election date was moved, seconded and approved.
Closed-session certifications
On returning from closed session the board adopted the statutory certification required by the Code of Virginia that only matters exempted by law were discussed in closed session; supervisors announced individually, "I so certify."
