Caroline County reports broadband now available to 1,798 previously unserved locations; more areas opening

The update summarized where service is already active, which providers cover each area, near-term construction milestones and a short list of risks the county is monitoring. “This project is currently on schedule, and we continue to monitor Rappanock Electric pole attachments and power supplies, as these are the 2 areas at risk of delaying the project at this time,” Sadler said.
Sadler said Comcast (Xfinity) provides service in areas shown in red on the county map, including Ladysmith and Carmel Church, Ladysmith Village, Lake Landor, Pundleton, Lake Caroline, Belmont and Caroline Pines. He said areas west of U.S. 95 in western Caroline County marked with pink dots on the map have Verizon Fios available; he cited verizon.com/fiosfaster and +1 (888) 548-5833 for Verizon. Existing Breezeline plant areas (purple or yellow on the map) use Breezeline’s general customer number, +1 (888) 536-9600, and the company website, www.breezeline.com.
Sadler announced that a group of addresses labeled GCR 04 on the county map is now open for Breezeline sales. He said residents on Pendleton Road, Mount Cloud Road, Fowl Road, Kids Fork Road and Self Lane are included in that opening and that Breezeline sales representative Reggie Spivey can be reached directly at (410) 490-6082 for sales and promotional offers. Sadler said the opening of GCR 04 means GCR 04 and GCR 05 are completed and open for sales.
Four other areas shown in yellow (GCR 02, GCR 03, GCR 06 and GCR 07) are slated to be completed by Oct. 1, 2025, Sadler said. He also said four additional areas (GCV 11, GCV 13, GCV 14 and GCV 15) were near completion with projected availability by Dec. 1, 2025. Construction in the remaining areas (shown in blue on the map) is expected to begin over the next three months; Sadler said the county will publish ETAs as construction progresses.
On railroad crossings, Sadler said three of four CSX railroad crossings required for the project were complete and that the county was working to finish the fourth. He said the overall project has been in progress since 2019 and that “at this time, no extension of the project is necessary,” while cautioning staff will continue to monitor for possible delays.
For updates and questions, Sadler directed residents to the county website (www.caroline.co.va.us) and the county’s broadband page, which includes an orange “submit your questions” button he said routes inquiries directly to him. He listed two upcoming public events where members of the Broadband Advisory Committee will have a presence: the Bowling Green Harvest Festival on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Frog Level Fall Festival and Parade on Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. He also said the next broadband update was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., and that the county may post interim YouTube updates before that date.
The update contained no formal motions or votes; Sadler presented status information, contact points and projected completion windows.
