Bridgewater-Raynham school committee ratifies three-year contract for maintenance, custodial and grounds staff

The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School Committee on Sept. 24 voted to ratify a three-year memorandum of agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, Council 93, Local 1700, covering maintenance, custodial and grounds staff.

"The contract is for a three-year period starting July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028," said Conrad LaMarinto, negotiation subcommittee chair, who summarized the agreement for the committee. She said the contract adds clarifying language on promotions and lateral moves, updates overtime and standby pay, changes sick-pay accumulation rules, increases the clothing allowance and adds tuition reimbursement for relevant courses. The contract also includes a cost-of-living increase of 2% for each year of the agreement.

The chair, Rachel King, then called for a motion to accept the memorandum of agreement. The motion was made and seconded on the floor and the chair announced the motion passes after a roll-call vote was conducted.

Ken Collins, the Bridgewater select board member serving as the town representative voting member for the meeting, was noted in the record as present for the vote. The committee thanked members of the negotiation subcommittee and the bargaining team for their work on the agreement.

The committee did not read a vote tally into the public record during the meeting minutes; the chair said the vote was taken by roll call and that "Motion passes." No amendments to the agreement were recorded in the meeting transcript.

The ratified memorandum of agreement will govern wages and terms of employment for the maintenance, custodial and grounds unit for the specified three-year period. The committee did not identify an effective implementation date beyond the stated contract term, nor did the transcript record departmental implementation steps or budget offsets associated with the contract.
