Council to swear in new municipal judge substitutes at next meeting after firm replacements retire

Walnut Grove — City staff informed council that two substitute municipal-court partners who serve when the municipal judge is absent are retiring. Judge Sam Barr provided names of replacements from his law firm, and the city will present those recommended appointees to council for swearing-in at the next council meeting.
Staff said the replacements were recommended by the municipal judge and that the city has already coordinated with the city attorney’s office. The mayor and council will formally swear in the new court substitutes at the upcoming council meeting so the replacements can serve when the municipal judge is unavailable.
Staff will forward the names of the appointees to council before the meeting. No formal vote on appointment occurred at this meeting; the item will be on the next council agenda for swearing-in.
